Cobourg Police – Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

Cobourg police conducted a traffic stop on August 16, 2019 that led to an investigation on the driver and passengers. One passenger was found to be wanted by Northumberland OPP, another passenger and the driver were found to be in contravention of their release conditions. Due to these facts all parties were arrested, and the vehicle searched which led to the discovery of approximately one ounce of suspected cocaine, valued at $2,800, in the vehicle along with weigh scales.

Arrested was 45-year-old Steven Baker of Port Hope for the following:
1. Breach of undertaking
2. Breach of probation
3. Possession for the purpose of trafficking

28-year-old Andrew Stephen of Hamilton Township was arrested for:
1. Breach of recognizance X3
2. Possession for the purpose of trafficking
3. Possession of property obtained by crime

And a 17-year-old woman, who cannot be named under the Young Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) was arrested for:
1. Strength of an outstanding arrest warrant
2. Breach of the YCJA
3. Possession for the purpose of trafficking

Court dates are scheduled for September 2019.
