On August 10th, 2019 at approximately 11:43 PM, police conducted a vehicle stop on Division Street in Cobourg, which resulted in an Oshawa man being arrested.
During the traffic stop, the driver of the vehicle provided false identification. Investigation determined the driver’s true identity, and that he was a suspended driver, along with being in breach of release conditions. As well, open liquor was located in the vehicle and a search also resulted in the location of a quantity of narcotics.
Tyler Stephens, 28 year of age, of Oshawa is charged with the following offences, and was held in custody for the purposes of a bail hearing on August 11, 2019:
· Drive without proper rear light – motor vehicle, contrary to section 62(1) of the Highway Traffic Act
· Drive motor vehicle – no validation on plate, contrary to section 7(1)(c)(i) of the Highway Traffic Act
· Fail to have insurance card, contrary to section 3(1) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
· Obstruct police Officer, contrary to section 129(a) of the criminal code
· Drive while under suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act
· Drive motor vehicle with open container of Liquor, contrary to section 32(1) of the Liquor License Act
· Possession for the purpose of trafficking in schedule 1 – crystal methamphetamine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
· Possession for the purpose of trafficking in schedule 1 – Fentanyl, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
· Possession for the purpose of trafficking in schedule 3 – Psilocybin, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
· Use validation not furnished for vehicle, contrary to section 12(1)€ of the Highway Traffic Act
· 2 counts of Breach of Undertaking, contrary to section 145(5.1) of the Criminal Code
· 2 counts of Breach of Probation, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code
