Breaking News – Cobourg CAO Stepping Down From His Duties In September

It appears Stephen Peacock who is Chief Administrative Officer of the Town of Cobourg will be stepping back from his duties due to medical reasons as of September 1, 2019.

As Chief Administrative Officer, part of Peacock’s duties over the last several years including:
Providing direction to Town employees
Directing the development of corporate policies and programs
Acting as a liaison between Council and staff
Directing the general financial control of all departments and ensuring Council has the annual estimates of revenue and expenditures
Ensuring Council receives the appropriate reports and information necessary for decision-making
Once Council has approved the agreements, directing the administration of the agreements
Co-ordinating the development of the Business Plans for the Town
Co-ordinating and directing collective bargaining with all employees, and recommending to Council agreements concerning wage, salaries, benefits and working conditions
Liaising with local boards, commissions, agencies, other municipalities and the provincial and federal governments.

The Chief Administrative Officer is appointed by Council and is responsible for providing corporate leadership for the general management of the corporation and is responsible for staffing.

Peacock stated in an e-mail to all staff on Friday, July 26, 2019, “After a lot of personal refection and discussions with my family and health care professional, I have decided that this is the time to step back from work and concentrate on my health.”

Peacock states at the end of the e-mail to Town staff, “It has been a privilege to work with all of you and I thank you for your dedication to your job and the Town.”
