Durham Police – Two Mothers Are Charged After Shoplifting with their Children

Two mothers are facing charges after they stole merchandise from a store while shopping with three of their children. One of the youth has also been charged.

On Monday, July 8, 2019, at approximately 6:36 p.m., police were called to the Superstore on Liverpool Road in Pickering for a theft in progress. Two women and three children (between the ages of 12 and 8 years old) were seen leaving the store with a cart full of items without making an attempt to pay. The stolen property was valued around $1,200.

Officers located the suspects in the parking lot of the store. Upon seeing the cruiser, the suspects, including one youth, fled on foot. Officers were able to catch up to the suspects and place them under arrest.

A 30-year-old female, a 42-year-old female and a 12-year-old female, all from Toronto, have been charged with: Theft Under $5,000 and Possession of Stolen Properly Under $5,000. They were released on a Promise to Appear.
