Peterborough County OPP – Fatal ATV Collision

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews were called to assist at a collision last night at approximately 10:45pm on Fire Route 83 near Sandy Lake Road.

A male party had been operating an ATV when for an unknown reason the vehicle left the roadway and rolled over into the ditch. The driver was thrown from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was wearing a helmet.

The driver of the ATV has be en identified as Dylan LICHTENBERGER (age 32) of Airdrie, Alberta. The deceased was transported to The Provincial Forensic Pathology Unit at the Forensic Services and Coroners Complex in Toronto for a post mortem examination.

Fire Route 83 was closed while members trained in Collision Reconstruction measured and documented the scene. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
