The fifth annual Multicultural Festival will bring sights and sounds from around the world to Port Hope’s Memorial Park June 29 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
And the tastes, as well, according to the Northumberland County press release.
A Gourmet Ethno-Truck Fair is part of this year’s celebration, offering a variety of delicious international dishes such as mouth-watering arepas, fresh-made wood-fired pizza and Vietnamese-Mexican fusion tacos.
The celebration kicks off at 9 a.m. with a citizenship ceremony, as more than 40 newcomers take their Oath of Canadian Citizenship.
Other festivities, from performances to vendors and food trucks, take over the park from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Visitors will enjoy diverse musical performances featuring First Nations, Irish and Latin-American rhythms, and may even be inspired to take part in free Bollywood and Salsa dance classes. At 7 p.m., local folk musician David Newland concludes the festivities with a free concert at the bandshell.
A full schedule of the day’s entertainment can be found at Northumberland.ca/MulticulturalFestival.
Acting Warden Bob Crate said he looks forward to meeting everyone at the event for a day of family fun and delicious food
“Northumberland County is focused on fostering an inclusive and welcoming community that promotes diversity and intercultural understanding,” Crate stated in the press release.
“This event is a great opportunity to celebrate the many unique experiences, backgrounds and traditions that contribute to Northumberland’s cultural vibrancy.”
