Cobourg Kodiaks Defeat Oakville Rock At Cobourg Community Centre

The Cobourg Nissan Kodiaks improved their overall record to 5-1 in Major Series Lacrosse action Sunday night. On Father’s day, the Kodiaks dominated the Oakville Rock enroute to an 11-6 win in front of over 500 fans at the Cobourg Community Centre.

The Kodiaks were coming off a close hard fight 12-11 win over the Peterborough Lakers on Thursday night. While the Oakville Rock were looking to extend their win streak to four games.

The Rock got off to a good start by scoring the first two goals but the Kodiaks were quick to respond and finished the first period 3-2.

The second period was all Kodiaks with Cobourg scoring several goals in transition and in their set offence. Beauty goals by Brandon Robinson and Ben French showcased the Kodiaks talent. Oakville goalie Nick Rose looked bewildered when French took a Ryan Lee pass and fired a behind the back shot into the top corner of the net. From there the Kodiaks were in control of the game. The score was 7-4 at the end of two periods.

The third period was back and forth with the Kodiaks making the most of their opportunities and scored four more goals while Cobourg goalie Kevin Orleman was stellar in net.

The final score was 11-6.
