Northumberland OPP – Prohibited Driver Charged With Impaired

On Thursday May 16, 2019 officers from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a possible impaired driver on County Road 25 in Cramahe Township.
Just after 5:30 pm a male was observed walking very unsteadily toward oncoming traffic before getting into the driver’s seat of a grey Chevrolet pick-truck that proceeded south bound on County Road 25.The vehicle and driver were located near Victoria Park in the town of Colborne.
Peter Mackenzie HAIG (age 56) of Cobourg, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Operation while prohibited
Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle.
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on July 17, 2019. The vehicle he was driving was impounded for 45 days.
