Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have been called to investigate four break and enters to waste transfer stations in the Municipality of Trent Lakes.
On December 18, 2018 at approximately 9:30pm, the waste transfer station located at 42 County Road 36 was broken into. $300 in cash was stolen. Two suspect were captured on video surveillance and are described as being in their late teens to early twenties with slender builds. The suspects are wearing hooded sweatshirts, balaclavas and gloves. (See attached photos 1 and 2)
On April 15, 2019 at approximately 3:00am, the waste transfer station located at 665 Crystal Lake Road was broken into. Scrap wire and an air compressor were stolen. Two suspects were captured on video surveillance. One is described as male, wearing beige work boots, gloves, light colour jacket, hooded sweater and a head lamp. The second is weari ng a hooded sweater, black hat, backpack and Ugg style boots. (See attached photo 3)
On April 20, 2019 at approximately 3:30am, the waste transfer station located at 3020 County Road 507 was broken into. Gardening tools, a wheelbarrow and a portable pump were stolen. Two suspects were captured on video surveillance. One is wearing a light coloured jacket, dark pants and hooded sweater. The second is wearing a dark jacket, dark pants, hooded sweater and backpack. On April 21, 2019 at approximately 3:00am, the waste transfer station located at 665 Crystal Lake Road was broken into. Scrap metal and a lawnmower were stolen. Three male suspects were captured on video surveillance. One is wearing a camouflage jacket, gloves, hooded sweater, blue jeans and green rain boots. (See attached photo 5)
Investigators are actively looking for information that may lead to a suspect or suspect(s) in these ca ses. Police urge the public to call in tips on these cases, or others, to the Peterborough OPP at 705-742-0401, the non-emergency line (888) 310-1122 or to Crime Stoppers.
