The Earth Cube Reactivated In Port Hope

In Community

Municipality of Port Hope Centre of Excellence for Environmental Sustainability Working Group members Wade Rowland , George Kallonakis and Chair Greg Burns were on hand for the reinstallation of The Earth Cube behind town hall on Tuesday, April 23, 2019.
Burns said, the cube was in an area for two years near the town hall, but it wasn’t utilized to its potential.
The Earth Cube is a neighborhood based composting system for urban composting of food waste such as vegetables, fruit peelings, coffee grounds and filters, tea bags and tea leaves, spent plants and flowers, crushed egg shells, bread, pasta, rice and more.
The Earth Cube will be for Town Hall Staff and Special Events in Memorial Park. Parks, Recreation and Culture staff will perform the necessary tasks required for the process and the compost will be utilized in the Municipal flower beds.
