Northumberland OPP – Male Facing Weapon Related Charges

On Sunday April 7, 2019 just after 2:30 pm officers from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a residence in Seymour Township in the Municipality of Trent Hills after receiving a report of male discharging a firearm in an unsafe area.

Officers located the male and found him to be in possession of a loaded firearm without having a valid firearms licence. As a result of the investigation Stephen TURCOTT (age 69) of Trent Hills, Ontario was arrested and charged with the following:

· Discharge Firearm with Intent (two counts)
· Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition (two counts)
· Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
· Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
· Firearms Regulation – Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon
· Common Nuisance – Endanger Life

The accused was held in custody pending the results of a bail hearing in Cobourg on April 8, 2019.
