Durham Police – Air1 Follows Suspect After Failing To Stop for Police

A Pickering man is facing numerous charges after he attempted to flee from a traffic stop in Oshawa.
On Friday, March 1, 2019, at approximately 12:30 a.m., members of Central East Division
attempted to stop a vehicle near Harmony Road and Olive Road in Oshawa after they observed it weaving in and out of the lanes. The vehicle failed to stop for officers and the suspect vehicle entered Highway 401 westbound at a high rate of speed. Uniform officers discontinued the pursuit due to safety concerns. Air1 continued to follow the suspect vehicle into the Scarborough area. The driver of the vehicle fled on foot near Jeffton Cresent and left the vehicle behind with two occupants. Air1 located the suspect trying to hide from officers. The suspect was located and taken into custody. The passengers were released unconditionally.
Johvan WALDRON, age 24 of Pickering is charged with: Possession of Schedule I for the Purpose of trafficking (Cocaine); Flight from Police; Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance; Fail to Comply with Recognizance; Race a Motor Vehicle; Fail to Comply with Probation Order and Drive While Under Suspension. He was held for a bail hearing.
