By daylight the waters had receded but there was still much to see.
High waters caused flooding along creeks and streams throughout the area including Port Hope, Cobourg and Hamilton Township.
Dale Road was closed west of County Road 45 after a ice jam caused water to flow over the roadway. At least one home had a flooded basement.
Division Street North, just north of Cobourg was also closed as the creek overflowed onto the roadway for several hours.
In Cobourg, the ninth hole at Cobourg Creek Golf Course had a few extra obstacles after large chunks of ice were deposited along the green.
The chunks of ice and fast moving water also tested the strength of the bridge on the course used for golf carts.
The Ganaraska River in Port Hope raised a few eyebrows after a ½ kilometre ice jam flooded area roads including Mill Street South and Queen Street, south of Robertson Street.
Two back-hoes from Don Oliver Excavating worked throughout the morning trying to clear the jam, but one of the problems crews had was the entrance to Lake Ontario from the river seemed to be frozen over and the ice had no where to go.
But shortly before 1 p.m. with the crews working, the jam started to clear and after more than 10 minutes of chunks of ice, along with branches, and tree limbs the ice was cleared from the river – once again.
