Cobourg Police – Weekly Media Release

Monday the 21stth day of January 2019 to Sunday the 27th day of January 2019, the Cobourg Police Service responded to 133 occurrences including:

4 Motor Vehicle Collisions, 4 Theft reports, 3 Mischief incident, 10 Alarm calls, 2 Mental Health calls, 1 Break and Enter, 4 Harassments, 1 Fraud, 4 Trespass calls

Here are some examples of calls for service for the week:

Jan 21st:

· Police responded a mental health call at an address on Alexandria Drive regarding a suicidal female. Police apprehended the female under the Mental Health Act and she was transported to the Northumberland Hills Hospital for medical assistances.
· Police responded to a Harassment radio call at an address on Nickerson Drive. Complainant reported that she had been receiving unwanted phone calls from a female suspect. Further investigation to follow.

Jan 22nd:

• Police responded to a suspicious person call at an address on Brook Rd South. Upon arrival police spoke with the caller who advised that a male was going through her garbage. The male was later located by police and cautioned for his actions.
• Police received a call for a male panhandling outside of a business on Division Street. Police attended the business and the male that was panhandling had left the area. The male was later located by police and cautioned for trespassing and panhandling out front of the business.

Jan 23rd:

· Police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Elgin Street. 2 motor vehicles were involved and no injuries were sustained to any of the parties. Police investigated the accident and completed a motor vehicle collision report.
· Police responded to a mischief call at an address on Division St. Information received from the complainant that someone slashed his tires to his vehicle sometime over the weekend. Further investigation to follow.

Jan 24th:

· Police responded to a 911 hang up at an address on Burnham Street. Upon arrival police deemed it false and a problem with the phone lines.
· Police responded to a panic Alarm at an address on Chapel Street. Upon arrival police determined the alarm to be false and set off accidently.

Jan 25th:

· Police responded to a Mental Health act call at a motel on Division St. Upon arrival police apprehended a female under the Mental Health Act. The female was subsequently transported to the Northumberland Hills hospital to be assessed by a physician.
· Police responded to a fraud at a business address on Strathy Rd. Upon arrival police spoke with the complainant who advised that someone took his debit card and had already made $1500 withdrawal. Further investigation to follow.

Jan 26th:

· Police received a call to attend an address on Strathy Road regarding a missing person. A female with Alzheimer’s went missing inside the business. A citizen located the female in question and brought her to the Cobourg Police Station where she was reunited with her loved ones.

· Police received a theft call at a business inside the Northumberland Mall. Further investigation to follow with possible suspects.

Jan 27th:

· Police responded to a shoplifting call at a business on Strathy Road. A female was in custody with store security for taking merchandise from the business. Upon arrival police charged the female accordingly and trespassed from the business.
· Police responded to an alarm call at a residential address on Ravensdale Road. Upon arrival police found front door insecure. Police clear the residence and determined that nothing appeared out of order. The Key holder was notified.

Police are reminding driver’s to drive with due care and attention according to the weather during the winter months. Traffic safety is everyone’s responsibility.
