A Burger King without a sign is not in the cards, if the request Cobourg council has received from n Architecture Inc. is granted.
The letter from intern architect Pere Bekederemo was presented at the committee-of-the-whole meeting Monday, asking the town for relief from a section of the bylaw that governs the number of signs permitted at 1154 Division St., director of planning Glenn McGlashon said.
The excavation just north of the gas station at the corner of Division and New Densmore Road is the prospective future site of a Burger King, McGlashon added. But the signage for the gas bar takes up the number of signs currently allowed at that site – one – and the new business owner wants a sign as well.
Councillor Aaron Burchat made a motion that the request be referred to building staff for a report.
