Peterborough County OPP – Male Arrested After Collision on Highway 115

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were responding to an unrelated motor vehicle collision when they observed a vehicle lose control and enter the median ditch this morning at 7:00am. Officers spoke to the male driver of the vehicle to ensure he was not injured when he advised that he was driving a stolen vehicle. The male had also consumed alcohol prior to driving.

Patrick BENSON (age 30) of Penetanguishene, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

  •  Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration-80 plus
  • Unauthorized possession of weapon
  • Possession of fi rearm or ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order-three counts
  • Theft over $5000 of a motor vehicle
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on January 8, 2019.
