R.I.D.E programs continue during the Festive Season Port Hope Police R.I.D.E programs are continuing through the Month of December. Over 1000 vehicles have been checked with no impaired charges being laid. Port Hope Police remind residents to utilize alternate transportation methods when attending Christmas parties or gatherings.
Operation Red Nose is up and running in Northumberland. The program, sponsored by the YMCA, is a national program dedicated to the fight against drinking and driving. It is a free, confidential, volunteer-driver service offered to any individual who has been drinking or who simply do not feel fit to drive his/her vehicle home. Remain dates they are operational are December 14 & 15 December 21 & 22 December 31(New Year’s Eve). People are encouraged to call Operation Red Nose Northumberland at (905) 377- 1218 during the evenings and hours of operation for a safe, reliable and free ride home
Man charged with driving while disqualified.


A 53 year old Port Hope man is facing charges after Port Hope Police investigated him in a motor vehicle. On the 12th of December at 5:00am Police commenced a traffic stop in Ontario Street by the 401. An investigation revealed the man was disqualified from driving as a result of a criminal code conviction. Polices impounded the man’s vehicle for 45 days. Glen Arthur Mills is charged with Driving while disqualified. He appears in court in January 2019.
