Northumberland OPP – Suspected Impaired Driver Arrested in Cobourg

On October 24, 2018 at approximately 1:45 pm members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a possible impaired driver on County Road 2 travelling westbound towards Cobourg. The motor vehicle was described as swerving, and unable to drive in a marked lane.

Officers located the silver pick-up truck as it turned into a parking lot off King Street, in the Town of Cobourg. As a result of the investigation 56 year old Peter Mackenzie HAIG of Cobourg was arrested and charged with:

· Care or Control While Impaired (Alcohol)
· Care or Control Over 80 mgs

The accused received an immediate 90 day driver’s licence suspension and further had his vehicle towed and impounded. He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on November 28, 2018
