Disabled Vehicle Results in a Criminal Charge

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – On Thursday October 25, 2018 just before 9:00am members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a disabled vehicle on Highway 401 eastbound in the Municipality of Brighton.

Officers located the 2001silver sedan with the hood up just east of Brighton. A male was observed outside of the vehicle waving down traffic. Investigation revealed that the motor vehicle was reported stolen out of Toronto the previous night. As a result of the investigation 24 year old Steven Thorpe of Carnarvon Township was arrested and charged with Possession of Stolen Property Obtained by Crime under $5000.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on December 12, 2018.
