The Northumberland Branch, Navy League of Canada Conducts its First Draw!!

In Charity, Community

Congratulations to MOE BULLOCK; her ticket was drawn on Sunday Oct 14, 2018 at the Navy League Building in Port Hope, as the Northumberland Branch of the Navy League of Canada first weekly Catch the Ace WINNER.
The weekly prize this week was $464. The progressive lottery was potential $696 to be awarded, however unfortunately contained in the envelope selected was the 3 of Diamonds. Next week’s Catch the Ace Lottery will grow to $696 plus 30% of this week’s ticket sales, growing each week until the Ace of Spades is selected.
President of the Northumberland Branch Navy of Canada, Heather Grundy says this fundraising initiative is to support the 116 Royal Canada Sea Cadet Corps Skeena in their efforts to fund an educational and historical excursion in 2019. It is to honour their namesake ship, HMCS Skeena and the 15 crew members of their ship who were lost in 1944 during the second war off the coast of Videy Island Iceland.
The goal is in excess of $100,000 but there is no limit to how large this progressive jackpot prize can be. The progressive lottery grows with respect to how many tickets are sold and how long the lottery lasts.
The next draw takes place Sunday October 21th, 2018 6:00pm at the Navy League Building, 17 Mill Street South, Port Hope, ON. Catch the Ace tickets can be purchased at the Navy League Building any Sunday prior to the draw 5:15 – 5:45 pm and 6:15 – 8 pm after the draw.
Tickets can also be purchase at MAGGIE MOOSE in Port Hope, and PLAY IT AGAIN SPORTS in Cobourg
How does the lottery work?
At the Navy League Building, on display will be 52 playing cards individually sealed in envelopes. These envelopes are numbered from 1 through 52. Nobody knows which envelope contains the Ace of Spades until the lucky winner catches it.
Purchase your tickets for $5 each. When you purchase your ticket, on your stub, you will be asked to preselect an envelope number.
If you are the lucky weekly winner you win 20% of that week’s ticket revenues and the numbered envelope you selected on your ticket will be opened to reveal a card. If the card is not the Ace of Spade, the card will be destroyed and the lottery continues for another week.
If the card is the Ace of Spade, you win the progressive jackpot too! The progressive jackpot grows each week with the 30% of the weekly ticket sales revenue being added in.
