Napanee, Loyalist and Kaladar OPP Seize 44 Kilograms of Marijuana

(Tyendinaga Twsp) – On Monday October 8th, 2018 at 11:38am officers with the Napanee detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police stopped a vehicle for travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 401 west bound at Marysville Road.

Officer’s spoke to the driver who had large garbage bags in the rear seat of his vehicle. In speaking with the driver’s officers determined the bags were full of marihuana. Through further investigation officer’s located additional bags in the trunk of the vehicle. In total there was 44 kilograms of marihuana concealed in the vehicle.

Police arrested the driver roadside. Hongyu Li a 36 year old male from Whitby was charged with speeding and possession for the pur pose of trafficking. Li was held overnight and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee on October the 9th.
