Suspect Arrested In Relation To Stabbing In Cobourg

A suspect has been arrested and charged in relation to a stabbing in Cobourg.
On Friday, August 31, 2018 at approximately 1:30 a.m. emergency services attended a address on Elgin Street East, just east of D’Arcy Street after 45-year-old Kevin Bandy was stabbed up to 17 times.
Three people were initially taken into custody, but were released unconditionally without charges.
As first reported in Today’s Northumberland, on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, the Cobourg Police arrested 30 year old Jesse Page-Thomas, of no fixed address, and charged him with the following offences:
1. Aggravated Assault contrary to Sec 268 CC
2. Assault with a weapon contrary to Sec 267(a) CC
3. Breach of Probation contrary to Section 733(1) CC
Page-Thomas appeared in court for a bail hearing and it was put over until Tuesday, September 18, 2018 by video so the suspect can retain counsel.
The suspect was initially arrested by Quinte West OPP after they executed a search warrant on September 4, 2018 located at 10 Trenton Street in the city of Quinte West.
On Sept 4, 2018 at approximately 4:12 a.m. officers from the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) while conducting a focus patrol observed a suspicious vehicle on Bayview Drive in the city of Quinte West. The officers conducted a traffic stop and approached the vehicle as the male driver fled on foot refusing to stop for police.
After a short foot chase the suspect was apprehended and taken into custody. During the apprehension the suspect resisted arrest and assaulted and attempted to disarm an officer. No injuries were sustained in the incident.
Page-Thomas was charged with:
Possession of stolen property obtained by Crime S.355(b) as per the Criminal Code (CC)
Assault Peace Officer with intent to Resist Arrest S.270(1)(b) CC
Disarming a Peace Officer S.270.1(1) CC
Trespass at Night S.177 CC
Theft Under $5000.00 S.334(b) CC
Possession of Break-In Instruments S.351(1) CC
Diving While Disqualified S.259(4) CC
Four Counts of Failing to Comply with Recognizance S.1 45(3) CC
Possession of Controlled Substance (Cocaine) S.4(1) contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA)
Possession of Controlled Substance (Cannabis Resin) S.4(1) CDSA
Possession of Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cannabis Resin) S.5(2) CDSA
Further investigation and after the completion of the search warrant Page-Thomas was additionally charged with:
Possession stolen property obtained by Crime S.355(b) CC (x8 Counts)
Theft Under $5000 S.334(b) CC (x7 Counts) and
Break and Enter S.348(1)(b) CC (x3 Counts)
