Five Counties Children’s Centre Pleased to Recognize The Generosity of Local Rotary Clubs

In Community

Our Rotary Clubs make a positive difference in the lives of local children and their families.
The Rotary Clubs of Cobourg, Northumberland Sunrise and Port Hope were welcomed at Five Counties Children’s Centre in Cobourg to be recognized for their generous support through a recent donation.
The joint gift from Rotary Clubs of $12,000 allowed the Centre to purchase a new transfer lift. The lift is a mechanical assistive device essential to help children and youth move safely and easily from one surface to another, such as from a chair to a bed.
“Five Counties Children’s Centre is grateful to the Rotary Club of Cobourg, the Rotary Club of Northumberland Sunrise and the Rotary Club of Port Hope for funding a specialized lift for our families in Northumberland,” said Diane Pick, CEO.
“This specialized lift makes it possible for children and youth to increase their flexibility be exercising in a standing position. Thank you to all the rotarians who work so hard to raise the funds for this specialized equipment.”
Five Counties Children’s Centre is committed to providing the highest quality of service possible, and this lift makes a positive difference to the lives of children and their families in need of our programs and services. A demonstration of the lift was performed so guests could see the imprtance of their donation in action.
Rotary members then toured the remainder of the site to see some of the additional services the Centre offers such as resource teachers, occupational therapy, therapeutic recreation and physiotherapy. The event was wrapped up with a presentation from Owen Reid and his family to representatives of each of the Rotary Clubs with a gift of his artwork to remember this celebration of their support of local children.
