(Issued March 26, 2018 at 4 p.m. EST)
–– The Town of Cobourg would like to invite interested candidates within Northumberland County to submit their interest to paint and design one of three pianos for the ‘Keys to our Town’ street piano summer campaign.

Each summer, donated pianos are painted by local artists and displayed in various locations throughout the downtown and waterfront area and passersby are encouraged to play. The concept was based on the “Play Me, I’m Yours” project by artists Luke Jerram, originating in Sheffield, England.

Once artists complete their work, the pianos are secured to their chosen location as a public art project aimed at providing a free avenue for individuals to express their musical talents in a public setting. Over 10,000 people played the ivories over the last two summers.

The Town of Cobourg has posted the details of the Expression of Interest on the Municipal website under the “Bids and Tenders” page. Visit www.cobourg.ca for additional information.
