Quinte West OPP – 13-Year-Old Charged With Dangerous Driving Flight From Police

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges following a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver.


On February 25, 2021, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Quinte West OPP responded to a report of a vehicle driving erratically eastbound on Dundas Street East in Trenton. An officer located the vehicle on Dundas Street West near Avondale Road in Belleville and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver failed to stop for police and for public safety reason s the officer disengaged with the vehicle.
A short time later, the suspect vehicle was observed by officers driving at a high rate of speed southbound on Wallbridge Loyalist Road. Officers deployed a tire deflation device in an attempt to safely stop the vehicle. The vehicle continued and at approximately 11:30 p.m. was apprehended by Belleville Police Service at Bell Boulevard and Cannifton Road in Belleville. OPP arrested the driver and learned that the vehicle was allegedly stolen from an address in Prince Edward County earlier in the evening.


A 13 year old male from Prince Edward County has been charged with the following offences:

Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

Dangerous operation; and

Flight from peace officer

The accused was released from custody on an Undertaking and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville in April of 2021. The name of the youth is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
