Peterborough County OPP – Successful Search for Lost Hunter

(HAVELOCK-BELMONT-METHUEN TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called on October 24, 2020 at approximately 10:00pm to assist in locating a lost hunter.

The male was moose hunting prior to becoming separated from the rest of his group. Members from the Central Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), Central Region Canine Unit and Peterborough County OPP detachment attended the scene to conduct a search. A Remote Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) was also deployed to assist with the search.

On October 25, 2020 at approximately 4:00am, the male was located in good condition and was transported out of the woods by a helicopter from Joint Rescue Coordination Center Trenton (JRCC Trenton).

The male was assessed by paramedics but did not require medical attention
