City of Kawartha Lakes OPP – Driver Facing Numerous Charges

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – On Friday June 26, 2020 at approximately 3:20 pm an officer from the City of Kawartha Lakes (CKL) detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was patrolling Sturgeon Road in the area of King’s Wharf Road.

At this time a vehicle was observed travelling well in excess of the posted 80 km/h. The officer initiated a traffic stop however the driver failed to stop and continued along King’s Wharf Road and abandoned the vehicle in a nearby field.

The driver, 55 year old Roger Roadhouse of Lindsay, was located with the assistance of the OPP’s Canine Unit a short time later and arrested and charged with the following offences:
Dangerous Operation contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)

Flight From Police contrary to the CCC

Race a Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)

Drive Motor Vehicle No Currently Validated Permit contrary to the HTA

Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle contrary to the HTA

Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on September 10, 2020.
