This year also marks the 25th anniversary of Paul Storms as the Director of Music of the band.

A special presentation was made at the band room on D’Arcy Street on Canada Day after the festivities in Victoria Park.

Past President of the Band, Chris Devlin read a letter by band member Glenn Workman who couldn’t be at the ceremony on Monday due to illness.

Storms first year with the band was 1980 at the former Cobourg Firehall on Second Street behind the town hall where the band would practise.

“Who would have guessed this teenager, would be our Director of Music,” said Devlin reading Workman’s notes.

“Now 25-years later, who would have known that our band would be fortunate enough to still have this man as our leader. He has worked hard to guide us through some difficult times and many memorable times.”

Storms was presented with Coat of Arms of the band by members John Goody, Past President Chris Devlin, and President Stephanie Siegner.
