A 33-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges following a warrant arrest.
On January 9, 2026, at approximately 10:00 a.m., police on general patrol observed an individual wanted on a warrant with the Cobourg Police Service.
The 33-year-old Cobourg man was arrested on the strength of the outstanding warrant. Upon arrest, police located .22 calibre bullets in the man’s possession. As a result of the police investigation, the accused was charged with Possession of Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order. The accused was held for a bail hearing and was subsequently remanded into custody.
A 61-year-old Courtice man is facing charges after theft investigation.
In July 2025, police opened an investigation after receiving a report of theft from a business in the northwest end of Cobourg. Following the police investigation, a suspect was identified, and a warrant was issued for their arrest.
On January 9, 2026, a 61-year-old Courtice man was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.
A 49-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges after police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up.
On January 10, 2026, at approximately 7:10 a.m., police were called to a 911 hang-up at a residence in the west end of Cobourg. During the investigation, police identified an individual at the home who was wanted on warrants from other police services.
When officers attempted to arrest the individual, he fled on foot. With assistance from members of the public, police located and arrested the man a short time later. At the time of the arrest, the individual was found to be in possession of a hatchet. A subsequent search revealed a prohibited knife.
As a result, the 49-year-old Cobourg man was charged with Mischief, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Fail to Comply with Probation, Fail to Comply with a Release Order, and three counts of Fail to Comply with a Weapons Prohibition. The accused was held for a bail hearing and was subsequently remanded into custody.
A 30-year-old Cobourg woman is facing charges after police received reports of theft from vehicles.
On the morning of January 10, 2026, police received multiple reports of theft from vehicles in the area of King Street West and Burnham Street in Cobourg. With the assistance of one of the complainants and video surveillance footage, police identified a suspect.
As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old Cobourg woman was arrested and charged with three counts of theft under $5,000, three counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and two counts of Trespass by Night.
The accused was held for a bail hearing and was subsequently released on a release order.
On January 10, 2026, at approximately 1:15 p.m., police responded to a three-vehicle collision in the area of University and William Street in Cobourg. No injuries were reported to police. As a result of the police investigation, one driver was charged with careless driving and disobeying a red light.
