The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges in an impaired driving investigation.
On November 7, 2023, at approximately 1:00 p.m., officers responded to a complaint of a motorist sleeping in their car, parked on the shoulder of RCAF Road, Quinte West. An investigation led to the driver being arrested.
Joseph NEHME, 41 years old from Ottawa, has been charged with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired – Alcohol or drugs
- Refusal to comply with demand
- Failure to stop after accident
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on November 30, 2023. Additionally, the vehicle was impounded for seven days, and their licence was suspended for 90 days.
