Cobourg Police – Individual Reportedly Assaulted with Bear Spray

Cobourg Police, Northumberland County Paramedics and Cobourg Fire Department attended the area of Division Street and Covert Street at the Salvation Army Community and Family Services on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 shortly after noon for an individual possibly assaulted with bear spray.

Cobourg Police didn’t have any information on the incident, but Today’s Northumberland has learned there was an altercation inside the Salvation Army Community and Family Services between two individuals.  One of the individuals produced what is believed to have been bear spray and sprayed it at the individual inside the building.

The building was aired out and one individual was treated by paramedics at the scene.

Reaching out to Cobourg Police they stated, “Police attended the area of Division Street and Covert Street last night for a report of assault. An individual was sprayed with an unknown aerosol spray by an unknown person. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-222-8477 or online at stopcrimehere.ca.”
