Great Gingerbread Build-Off Spectator Tickets Now on Sale

Come for the competition, stay for the chaos!

The icing is ready. The teams are getting competitive. And this year, for the first time, you can watch it all unfold live!

Spectator tickets are now on sale for Habitat for Humanity Northumberland’s Great Gingerbread Build Off Showdown and the brand-new Great Gingerbread Academy, giving the community a front-row seat to the creativity, competition and holiday mayhem this November.

The Showdown – Come Watch the Chaos!

Friday, November 20 | 5:30 p.m. | Lions Club of Cobourg

Teams of four will race against the clock to create epic gingerbread masterpieces while navigating Roadblocks, surprise challenges and visits from Habitat’s infamous Building Inspectors.

And spectators won’t just be watching! Audience members will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite creation in the People’s Choice Award via a small donation, while a panel of judges determines the overall competition winner.

Spectator tickets are $40 each and includes food and a non-alcoholic drink ticket.

For those who would rather compete than watch, only FOUR team spots remain!

Interested teams are encouraged to register before they’re gone!

Great Gingerbread Academy – Cheer on the Next Generation!

Sunday, November 29 | 1 p.m. | Port Hope High School

New this year, the Great Gingerbread Build-Off Academy brings the excitement to middle school and high school students across Northumberland County!

Teams of four will compete in a fast-paced gingerbread building challenge, complete with Roadblocks, surprises and a panel of judges.

Family, friends, classmates and community members are invited to come cheer them on and vote for their favourite creation in the People’s Choice Award, while a panel of judges determines the overall competition winner.

Spectator tickets are just $10 each.

Academy team registration closes October 31, but student fundraising continues right up until competition day. Teams are encouraged to raise funds in support of Habitat Northumberland.

More Ways To Get In On The Fun
The Great Gingerbread Build-Off also includes FREE Kids Workshops for children under 12 on November 14 at The Mill Restaurant in Cobourg and November 22 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Port Hope. Advance registration is required.

“This year is really about taking the Great Gingerbread Build-Off to the next level and creating something the whole community can enjoy,” says Aimee Tedford, Director of Business Operations at Habitat for Humanity Northumberland. “Whether you’re building, fundraising, cheering on a team or casting your People’s Choice vote, there’s a way to join in. We’re especially excited to have spectators adding to the energy and mayhem!”

Last year’s Great Gingerbread Build-Off raised $25,000 for Habitat Northumberland. With the event expanding significantly in 2026, organizers have their sights set on surpassing that total in a big way.

Proceeds from the Great Gingerbread Build-Off help Habitat Northumberland deliver their housing programs, helping more people across Northumberland County have a safe and stable place to call home.
