Video – Salmon Run Continues to Draw Crowds to Port Hope
The salmon are still running — and visitors are still coming to watch one of nature’s most spectacular annual events along the Ganaraska River.
On Sunday, September 27, 2026, it was evident the salmon run remained in full swing as large numbers of salmon continued their journey from Lake Ontario into the Ganaraska River.
Tourists and local residents lined the riverbanks, watching as the determined fish battled the current and made their way upstream.
For many visitors, it is a chance to witness a remarkable natural spectacle that takes place every fall in Port Hope.
The sight of salmon moving through the river has become an annual attraction, drawing people from well beyond Northumberland County to the community to experience the run firsthand.
Judging by the crowds and the number of fish still making their way upstream, the salmon run is far from over.
