Cornerstone’s Signature Event Returns to Downtown Cobourg during the Harvest Festival

Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre is proud to announce the return of Walk A Mile, now celebrating its 19th year of bringing the community together to support women and children who have been impacted by gender-based violence.
Taking place on Saturday, October 3rd, 2026, this family-friendly walk through downtown Cobourg is one of Cornerstone’s most impactful annual fundraising events.
Over the years, Walk A Mile has raised more than $664,500 to help women, children, and youth access shelter, counselling, housing support, violence prevention education, family court support, and other essential programs. Last year alone, Cornerstone served more than 2,400 individuals across Northumberland County.
“We look forward to Walk A Mile every year because it’s such an uplifting day to see our community come together for an important cause,” said Nancy Johnston, Executive Director of Cornerstone. “Whether you walk on your own or with a team, we invite everyone to join us in raising awareness and showing support for those affected by gender-based violence. Bring your family, friends, coworkers, and even your pets, for a morning filled with purpose, community, and fun,” added Johnston.
Registration begins at 9:30am outside the Cobourg Police station. Participants will enjoy a complimentary breakfast provided by the Cobourg Lions Club and coffee from Pulse Coffee House before setting out on the walk. The Cobourg Police Service Pipes & Drums will once again lead participants down King Street, helping kick off a memorable morning.
All types of footwear are welcome! Registration is $20 for adults and $10 for youth under 18, and walkers are encouraged to collect additional pledges in support of Cornerstone’s vital programs and services.
