August 23, 2026 Piping Down the Sun Cobourg

The summer tradition of “Piping Down the Sun” in Cobourg is quickly coming to an end.

Piper David MacDiamid of the Cobourg Legion Pipes and Drums played from the east pier on Sunday, August 23, 2026, as the sun began to set over Lake Ontario.

The tradition has continued throughout the summer, with members of the Cobourg Legion Pipes and Drums gathering on weekends to provide the unmistakable sound of the pipes as daylight fades.

Weather permitting, the coming weekend will mark the second-last “Piping Down the Sun” of the season.

The final performance is scheduled for September 6, when the band promises another special treat for those who come down to the waterfront to enjoy the music and sunset.

For those who have made the evening tradition part of their summer, there are only two more weekends to take in the pipes, the sunset and the spectacular Cobourg waterfront setting.
