Cobourg Community Invited to Intersex-Inclusive Progress Pride Flag Raising

The Town of Cobourg invites community members to join us on Monday, June 8, at 11 a.m. for a flag raising in front of Victoria Hall in celebration of Pride Month.

The annual flag raising ceremony is an opportunity for the community to show solidarity, promote dialogue, and strengthen our collective commitment to inclusivity.

The month of June is proclaimed Pride Month in the Town of Cobourg. Pride Month brings Cobourg together to celebrate the history, courage, and diversity of Cobourg’s Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and additional people who identify as part of sexual and gender diverse communities (2SLGBTQ+). Members of the community are encouraged to reach out, connect to support each other and celebrate together.

The Town is committed to addressing the unique challenges facing 2SLGBTQ+ communities to build a more inclusive and equitable Cobourg. The Pride Flag will be raised at Victoria Hall (corner of King St. and Second St.) and Jubilee Park until the end of June.

All members of the community are welcome to join Mayor Cleveland, members of Council, representatives from PFLAG Canada – Cobourg Chapter, and Town of Cobourg staff for the flag raising and brief remarks.
