Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) is nearing completion of its community outreach and engagement activities for the NHH Master Plan – Growing Care for the Future. Residents who have not already provided feedback through 1:1 meetings, generative conversations, virtual forums, or the Growing Care for the Future survey, still have time to fill in the short e-survey before it closes at 12 noon on Monday, May 11, 2026. The direct link to the survey will be found on the hospital website here.
Since November, NHH has been gathering community input on future service and facility priorities. Reflecting the diversity of the growing community, feedback has been invited through a mix of in-person and virtual opportunities, both in groups (large and small) and 1:1. All of the engagement tactics have had the same aim: to provide opportunities for residents to ask questions and share input on current hospital services as well as future needs.
“This is such a critical task—planning for future needs. On behalf of our Steering Committee, I thank all the many community organizations, partners and individuals who, over the course of six months, offered their unique perspective about the programs and services that they value at NHH today, and those that they would like to see grow in future to needs in the coming decades. We have welcomed participants in virtual forums, hosted or were invited to host generative discussions with a range of local community groups, and welcomed input through our online and in-hospital survey. From our area health and social care partners, to students, municipal, provincial and Indigenous leaders, community organizations and local businesses, we are receiving a broad mix of thoughtful and very valuable input that is being reviewed and used to help inform a plan for the future growth of Northumberland Hills Hospital,” says Susan Walsh, President and CEO of NHH.
“We welcome all this input and encourage anyone who has not had an opportunity to please complete the survey before May 11 or reach out to us directly for a conversation.”
Following the survey wrap-up on May 11, 2026, the information gathered will be analyzed, reviewed and reported as part of the detailed formal submission going forward this summer to the Ministry of Health and Ontario Health regarding the proposed long-term program and facility requirements of NHH. Further engagement is anticipated at the functional programming stage in future.
Constructing new healthcare spaces is a complex process with multiple stages of planning and approvals that can take many years to complete.
The plans and ideas generated through the community engagement portion of the Master Planning process are conceptual – they will evolve with the support government, and updates will be shared as this work moves forward.
