It was a busy day on Saturday, December 20, 2025 in Port Hope as Port Hope Police Constable Tammie Staples, Auxiliary Sgt. Jenna Stapley and volunteer Gwen Siebarth collected and counted the last of the pyjamas for the ninth annual Port Hope Police Tammies Jammies collection at the Port Hope Police station.
The pyjama drive is named after Staples who never wants to know how many have been collected until the final count.
With Staples clutching a pair of pyjamas, Stapley reach out the number of 3,871 pairs of pyjamas that had been donated.
“Thank you to everyone in the community – this is incredible.”
“We could not have done this without everyone’s support – thank you, thank you, thank you.”
Staples gave special praise to a major supporter and helper of the pyjama drive.
Jerry Siebarth passed away early in October, but Staples said, “he would be over the moon” with this years total.
The pj drive started on November 13 with collections taking place across Northumberland County and beyond.
With a huge smile Staples ended this years drive by saying, “we will have tons of kids with smiles on their faces when they wake up at Christmas morning.”
