Video – Tammies Jammies in Full Swing Thanks to Community Efforts
Tammies Jammies is in full swing this year marking the ninth year for the event.
Port Hope Police Constable Tammie Staples started the pyjama drive to give a child a pair of pyjamas to as many children as possible in the area.
Staples always said her goal was one pair of pyjamas each year.
“Every year we make that one goal happen,” said a beaming Staples.
The first year 50 pairs of pyjamas were donated and last year it was 2,780.
Staples and Auxiliary Jenna Stapley drove to Bowmanville to Carter’s Babies and Kids/OshKosh B’gosh to get 177 pairs of pyjamas that was purchased through donations.
“It’s going fantastic this year.”.
“The community and around has donated – I’m telling you the jammies are coming in – we’re in a good spot.”
Giant Tiger and Carter’s Babies and Kids/OshKosh B’gosh have been very supportive of Tammies Jammies.
Over the years, Staples said the support from everyone in the community has been “incredible.”
“Every year it grows and grows and the Port Hope Police Jammie Drives is one that keeps blossoming and it couldn’t have been done without the community.”
