Video – Huge Christmas Trees Donated to Christmas Magic in Cobourg

November 14, 2025 Christmas Magic Trees Cobourg

Two huge Christmas trees were installed in along the esplanade on Friday, November 14, 2025.

The trees were donated from Cobourg families who wanted to get rid of the trees for various reasons and Northumberland Crane and Tree Services along with Ironwood Tree and Landscape donated their services to cut, deliver and install the trees on Friday morning.

The first was a 28-foot tall Blue Spruce tree in the east end of Cobourg. The tree was supported by the crane, cut at the base, then lifted onto a trailer and escorted by to the esplanade by Rotary Harbourfront Park where it was installed.

Then it was off to the west end to pick up a 30-foot tall Norway Spruce. The tree was supported by the crane and lifted over a house, placed on a trailer and transported down to the harbour area.

Manager of Culture, Events and Tourism, Jackie Chapman Davis said both companies have donated their services to help bring Christmas Magic to Cobourg.

Tragically this year, the owner of Northumberland Crane and Tree Services Inc, Rob Tinney lost his wife who had a brief battle with cancer.

Chapman Davis said in honour of Serena Tinney, the trees along the esplanade will be dedicated in her honour.

“This is a huge honour,” said Rob.

“Her absolute favourite time time of year was Christmas. Even her room at Ed’s House was decorated with the Christmas theme.”

The trees will be decorated in time for the kickoff of Christmas Magic on November 21, 2025.

After the Christmas season is over, the trees will be mulched up for the parks.

“It’s a cycle for the trees. We think about everything to make this a sustainable project for the Town of Cobourg.
