Pine Ridge Chapter of the Ontario Building Officials Association Raises $15,700 for Charity

The Pine Ridge Chapter of the Ontario Building Officials Association (OBOA) hosted its annual charity golf tournament on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Shelter Valley Pines Golf Course in Grafton.

This year’s event brought together 88 golfers and was generously supported by local developers and industry partners across Northumberland County. Together, participants raised an impressive $15,700, bringing the tournament’s cumulative total to over $125,000 raised during its 18-year history.

Last week, cheques were presented to the Salvation Army and Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank, with each organization receiving $7,850 to support their community programs.

The event was first started by Rick Jones, former Chief Building Official for the Municipality of Brighton, who has since retired. The tournament continues to thrive under the leadership of a dedicated organizing committee including Dave Hancock (Chief Building Official, Town of Cobourg), Tim Jeronimus (Chief Building Official, Township of Hamilton), and Daryl Hall (Deputy Chief Building Official, Municipality of
Brighton).

“Each year, this tournament showcases the incredible community spirit of local builders, inspectors, and developers,” said Dave Hancock. “The funds raised make a real difference locally, and it’s wonderful to see the continued enthusiasm and generosity from everyone involved.”

About the Pine Ridge Chapter of the Ontario Building Officials Association
The Pine Ridge Chapter is comprised of building officials from each municipality within the County of Northumberland and several neighbouring municipalities.

The Pine Ridge Chapter exists under the Ontario Building Officials Association to provide supports to our members and to foster open communication between the building authorities of the represented municipalities.

The Chapter also engages in building-related events to encourage communication with local builders and help educate the public on the legislative and regulatory requirements for constructing in Ontario. The annual charity golf tournament, traditionally held at Shelter Valley Pines Golf Club, has been an opportunity to get together with local contractors and builders while also raising funds for local causes.
