Video – Photo Gallery – Poppy Fence Gets a Makeover Along Cobourg Lakeshore

November 8, 2025 Poppy Fence Jenny Duda Cobourg

The Poppy Fence in Cobourg got a makeover thanks to a local artist and her friends.

Jenny Duda started creating fence artwork in 2021 with help from the community creating a Poppy Fence at the bottom of Durham Street, just off the boardwalk.

“Four years later the poppies are worn and showing their age,” said Duda.

The poppies created four years ago are being left on the fence and with the help of approximately 10 friends new poppies were created along the fenceline over the last few days.

On Saturday, November 8, 2025 the “finishing touches” were put on the poppies.

A peace sign also created by Duda, but updated it with the hand holding a poppy.

The area along the waterfront is a popular spot for walkers and a number of people have thanks Duda for the artwork.

“They love the idea that it’s near the Legion where there is lots of people that may have experienced war first hand.”

The poppy is near and dear to Duda with her father serving in World War II with the Ukranian Army.

“It makes me think about the people that endured war. My dad had PTSD from it. War lasts more than the actual event takes place.”
