On Tuesday, November 11, 2025, members of Branch 30 of the Royal Canadian Legion Port Hope will gather in Lent Lane at 10:15 a.m. to march down the lane to the Memorial Park Cenotaph (44 Queen Street) for the Remembrance Day Service beginning at 10:30 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
As a special and unique addition to this year’s ceremony, 14 active members of the Canadian Armed Forces will be joining the parade and the Commanding Officer will be laying a wreath on behalf of the squadron at the Ceremony. This team will be flying into Port Hope on a CH147 helicopter and landing in the 74 Queen Street parking lot for the day. It is anticipated that the helicopter will arrive between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and depart around 3:00 p.m. (weather permitting).
The ceremony at the Canton Cenotaph (5325 County Road 10) will commence later in the day at 2:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
The following road closures will be in effect on November 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. to accommodate the Legion’s Remembrance Day ceremony.
Intermittent traffic stops may also occur throughout the morning and evening at the Queen Street and Robertson Street intersection to accommodate the landing and departure of the helicopter.
The parking lot located at 74 Queen Street (next to Town Hall) will be unavailable for the majority of the day to accommodate the helicopter. Alternative overflow parking for the ceremony will be located at 95 Mill Street South.
A reminder to residents that municipal administrative buildings will be closed on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, in observance of Remembrance Day. For urgent services related to water, wastewater, or roads, call 905-885-2431 and press * to reach our after-hours emergency line.
Please note: Transit Services will reroute around the road closure from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. During this time, Stop A36 will be out of service. In addition, transit service will temporarily halt from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to allow our drivers to participate in the Memorial Park ceremony.
