Peterborough County OPP – Vehicle Located in the Otonobee River

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews were dispatched to a report of a vehicle that had gone into the Otonabee River.

On Sunday May 4, 2025, at approximately 11:30am, the Peterborough county OPP received a call reporting a vehicle that was submerged in the Otonabee River off County Road 32 in the Douro-Dummer Township. Officers and other first responders attended the scene where a vehicle could be seen submerged in the water. It was quickly determined that there were no occupants in the vehicle.

The registered ow ner of the vehicle was located safe at their residence along with someone who was identified as the passenger in the vehicle.

The 18-year-old male driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act;
