The Cobourg Farmer’s Market opened up for another season on Saturday, May 3, 2025.
Dignitaries including Deputy Mayor Nicole Beatty and Councillor Adam Bureau were lead by Cobourg Legion Pipes and Drums Pipe Major Mary Ito to the Rotary Harbourfront Park.
“The Farmer’s Market around this circle is a beautiful thing,” said Beatty.
“The symbolism of a circle, the connectiveness, the community, the coming together. As we share what we make, we eat what we grow and we break bread together as a Cobourg community.”
Lauren Quinto, President of the Cobourg Farmer’s Market said the market has been the heartbeat of Cobourg since 1839.
“This market is proudly 100% producer run meaning every vendor you meet today is directly involved in growing, crafting or preparing the products they sell.”
“It’s not just about food, it’s about the connection you’ll find from vegetables and ethically raised meats to hand-crafted crafts, fresh flowers and delicious baked goods. Each item tells a story of dedication, traditions and local pride.”
Quinto said the market is more than a place to shop, “it’s a gathering place. A place where friendships are forged, families spend their mornings and the community comes alive.”
Shortly after the ceremony, the Cobourg Legion Pipes and Drums held a flash mob with pipers and drummers coming from all around the circle joining in the centre for a number of songs.
