Ontario was painted blue following the Provincial Election held on February 27, 2025.

In Northumberland – Peterborough South David Piccini beat out his nearest rival by 10,784 votes when the 105 polls were counted.

Provincially, Progressive Conservatives won 81 seats, NDP won 26 sets, Liberal 14 seats and the Green Party won 2 seats.

Piccini had 28,489 of 54,680 (52.1%) votes cast, followed by Dorothy Noronha, of the Liberal Party of Ontario with 17,705 votes and Bruce LePage, of the Ontario New Democratic Party with 5,097.

Piccini has represented the riding since 2018.

At the Cobourg Legion, Piccini and his supporters celebrated their victory shortly after the polls closed at 9 p.m.

Shortly after 10 p.m., Piccini thanked his supporters.

“Today is so meaningful for me because I’m standing here with people I care immensely about. Thank you for the giving of your time to turn this riding blue. A three-peat once again with an even bigger majority.”

“I’m proud to be from rural Ontario. I’m proud to have grown up in Port Hope and to represent the best community in rural Ontario. And I’m proud to work with a Premier and a team that are laser focused.

This election was about leadership. It was about who we can trust to stand up to Donald Trump. It was about who you can trust to protect your pocket book – and without question that is Premier Doug Ford.”

Piccini said now is the time as a community, province and country to come together.

“We must come together to stand up to a bully south of the border.”

“By sending me to Queen’s Park you’ve sent me to finish the job of the new K-12 school in Newcastle, you’ve sent me back to build a new hospital in Campbellford – it’s going to be on budget. And you’ve sent me to back to build homes for our next generation. We’re going to make sure you have a family doctor by sending us back to Queen’s Park.”

“We are at a precipice. Where we can unite as a Country, break down Provincial barriers, build things again, protect this great Province under the leadership of Premier Ford and by sending me back to Queen’s Park we’re going to do it.”

“Our best days are yet to come.”
