Belleville Fire and Emergency Services is introducing a new emergency notification system which will be used to alert the public of large-scale emergencies and significant events which could affect their health and safety.
Belleville Alerts will provide users with important emergency information on events such as major fires, significant weather events, shelter-in-place orders and more, via an automated phone call or text message to their electronic device. In order to receive these notifications, users must register and provide some basic contact information including their name and phone number. Upon successful registration, users may receive notifications any time of day or night should an emergency arise.
“We are very pleased to be introducing our own public alert system for Belleville,” said Fire Chief and Director of Emergency Services Dan Smith. “This new system will provide us with a way to notify impacted residents quickly and directly in a way we haven’t been able to before. I would urge everyone to register today – it is quick, easy and could make all the difference in an emergency.”
