The building that once housed the former curling club which in later years turned into Lakeshore Auto Electric has been demolished.
The demolition of the building which is located on Albert Street between Division and McGill Street started on Monday, February 3, 2025 and by Wednesday the structure was demolished. Throughout the rest of the week, crews will be hauling what is left of the building away.
Historian Dianne Brock from Facebook Group Cobourg Yesteryears sent a article from the local paper in the 1950’s statted the rink was built in 1919 and a company formed with shares to see up to the extent of $10,000 at the price of $10 per share.
One of the big drawbacks was the lack of an artificial ice plant.
The building later because home of the business Lakeshore Auto Electric, but has been vacant for years.
