Dead Birds Sent to Canadian Wildlife Health Cooperative Testing for Avian Flu
The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit has confirmed that a Canada goose and mallard duck have been sent to the Canadian Wildlife Health Cooperative on Friday.
A number of birds were found dead in the area of Cobourg Harbour recently.
One person has raised concerns of the possibility some of the birds may have died from Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HIAP) or commonly known as avian flu.
The birds were sent to the CWHC on Friday, January 3, 2025 and the Health Unit has yet to receive the results.
