Cobourg Police Service Enhances Downtown Patrols in Response to Community Feedback

The Cobourg Police Service (CPS) is increasing targeted patrols in the downtown area, responding directly to community feedback concerns raised during a recent town hall meeting.

Residents have expressed a strong desire for a more noticeable police presence in the early morning and evening hours to enhance safety and security in our vibrant downtown core. Starting this week, CPS members, including sworn officers, special constables, and auxiliary members, will conduct increased targeted patrols.

“We are committed to listening to our community and finding effective and sustainable ways to ensure
everyone feels safe. By increasing our patrols, we aim to deter crime and provide a reassuring presence for residents and visitors alike.” – Chief Paul VandeGraaf

These efforts are part of a broader strategy to increase engagement between police and the public, addressing community concerns and crime proactively to maintain safe neighbourhoods for all.
